Over a noetherian ring, injective modules admit direct sum decompositions into injective hulls of quotients by prime ideals. Enochs and Huang show that the class of Gorenstein injective modules is closed under tensor products over such rings. Authors extend this result and show that over a Cohen-Macaulay ring admitting a dualizing module, Gorenstein injective modules admit similar filtrations. They also investigate Tor-modules of Gorenstein injective modules over such rings. Furthermore, they give examples showing the following: (1) the class of Gorenstein injective R-modules need not be closed under tensor products, even when \(R\) is local and artinian; (2) the class of Gorenstein injective \(R\)-modules need not be closed under torsion products, even when \(R\) is a local, complete hypersurface; and (3) the filtrations given in the main theorem do not yield direct sum decompositions, even when \(R\) is a local, complete hypersurface. Section 2, contains background information, and Section 3 consists of technical results central to their main proofs. Section 4 contains the proof of Theorem A, and come consequences. Section 5 consists of the aforementioned examples. The paper concludes with Section 6 which gives a more general version of Theorem A, in addition to the proof of Theorem B.
