The categorical analogue of the notion of integrals and cointegrals was established by the author [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 221, No. 9, 2338--2371 (2017; Zbl 1375.18045)] for unimodular finite tensor categories. Now he introduces these notions for an arbitrary finite tensor category $\mathcal C$. After that he extends some results on finite dimensional Hopf algebras (existence, uniqueness, Maschke theorem) to finite tensor categories by using categorical integrals and cointegrals. Also, by the introduction of the integration functor he generalizes a result of \textit{M. Lorenz} [J. Algebra 188, No. 2, 476--505 (1997; Zbl 0873.16023)] to finite tensor categories. Finally, in the last section the author gives a categorical description of the $n$-th indicator of a finite dimensional Hopf algebra for a positive integer $n$.
