The authors prove that, given a dynamical system \((X,\mathcal M,\mu,\tau)\) and \(0<q<1\), the Lorentz spaces \(L^{1,q} (\mu)\) satisfy the so-called Return Times Property Theorem [\textit{J. Bourgain}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 306, No. 12, 483--485 (1988; Zbl 0655.58022); Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 69, 5--45 (1989; Zbl 0705.28008)], contrary to what happens in the case \(q=1\). Moreover, the authors consider cases more general than previously known cases since they work with a \(\sigma\)-finite measure \(\mu\) and a transformation \(\tau\) which is only Cesaro bounded. The proof uses the extrapolation theory of Rubio de Francia for one-sided weights. The results are of independent interest and can be applied to many other situations.
