The authors study the blow-up of a weighted projective plane at a general point, with a focus on testing whether the resulting space is a Mori dream space and computing the Cox ring. As an application, they show that the moduli space \(\overline{M}_{0,n}\) of stable \(n\)-pointed genus zero curves is not a Mori dream space for \(n \geq 10\), which improves earlier results of \textit{A.-M. Castravet} and \textit{J. Tevelev} [Duke Math. J. 164, No. 8, 1641--1667 (2015; Zbl 1343.14013)] (for \(n \geq 134\)) and \textit{J. L. González} and \textit{K. Karu} [Compos. Math. 152, No. 5, 984--996 (2016; Zbl 1383.14015)] (for \(n \geq 13\)).
