The design of minimal-degree compensators, minimal-degree compensators with assignable structure and minimal-degree compensators with assignable poles are discussed. The design is carried out by searching linearly dependent rows of numerical matrices. The degrees of these compensators are also derived. The method extends and systematizes the existing methods in the literature.
