In the first part of this paper the author studies the non-rational vertex operator algebra \(L(1,0)\) and the corresponding fusion ring for the degenerate minimal models, that is \(p=q\) case for \(L(c_{p,q},0)\), where \(c_{p,q}= 1-6(p-q)^2/(pq)\), \((p,q)=1\), \(p,q>1\), with central charge \(c=1\). The algebra \(L(1,0)\) is not rational but has a distinguished family of irreducible modules (which are not Verma modules) with known embedding structure. It is shown that the fusion ring for this family is isomorphic to the representation ring for \(\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{C})\). As the author points out, the result itself seems to be known to physicists for a while, but there was no proof that can be found in the literature. In the second part of the paper the author studies the super \(N=1\) version of the above result, which stems from the \(N=1\) Neveu-Schwarz Lie superalgebra at the level \(3/2\). The author considers a set of irreducible modules for an \(N=1\) superconformal algebra and proves that the corresponding fusion ring is isomorphic to the representation rings for \(\mathfrak{osp}(1| 2)\). It is pointed out that the results can be extended to a more general class of vertex operator algebras \(L(c,0)\) where \(c\neq c_{p,q}\).
