The author considers dissipative semigroups \((\tau_t)_{t\geq 0}\) on a von Neumann algebra \({\mathcal A}_0\) which admit a normal invariant state \(\phi_0\) and their dilations to weak Markov forward \((j_t^f)_{t\geq 0}\) and backward processes [\textit{B. V. R. Bhat} and \textit{K. R. Parthasarathy}, Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Probab. Stat. 31, 601--651 (1995; Zbl 0832.46060) and \textit{L. Accardi} and \textit{A. Mohari}, Infin. Dimens. Anal. Quantum Probab. Relat. Top. 2, 397--425 (1999)]. The asymptotic behaviour of semigroups and the relation with the canonical Markov shift are investigated. The author proves that the forward process has the K-shift property, i.e., the family of increasing projections \((j_t^f(I))_{t\geq 0}\) (\(I\) the identity of \({\mathcal A}_0\)) converges strongly as \(t\to\infty\) to a suitable one-dimensional projection, if and only if \(\phi_0(\tau_t(x)\tau_t(y))\to \phi_0(x)\phi_0(y)\) as \(t\to\infty\), i.e., the triple \(({\mathcal A}_0, (\tau_t)_{t\geq 0}),\phi_0)\) is strongly mixing. In the case that \(\phi_0\) is faithful, he extends the notion of ``quantum detailed balance'' introduced by \textit{A. Frigerio} and \textit{V. Gorini} [Commun. Math. Phys. 93, 517--532 (1984; Zbl 0553.46044)] and he proves that the forward and backward weak Markov processes are equivalent by an anti-unitary operator. The relation between strong mixing and the sufficient condition for ``approach to equilibrium'' due to Frigerio and Verri (\(\{x\in{\mathcal A}_0\mid \tau_t(x^*x)=\tau_t(x^*)\tau_t(x)\), \(\tau_t(xx^*)=\tau_t(x)\tau_t(x^*), \forall t\}\) coincides with the algebra of \(\tau_t\)-in\-va\-riants for all \(t\geq0\)) is also discussed. In this regard, the notion of subharmonic projection introduced by the reviewer and \textit{R. Rebolledo} [J. Math. Phys. 43, 1074--1082 (2002)] plays an important role.
