Stochastic numbers are defined as Gaussian random variables with known mean-value and standard deviation. Stochastic arithmetic is then seen as a set of operations on stochastic numbers. The paper under review is focused on addition and multiplication by scalars. Algebraic systems are modelled that represent stochastic arithmetics. Special attention is given to the distributive law of stochastic numbers so that a complete algebraic characterisation of such stochastic systems is possible.
