Let \(S=k[x_1,\cdots,x_m,y_1,\cdots,y_n]\) be a bigraded polynomial ring over a field. Set \(P=(x_1,\cdots,x_m)\) and \(Q=(y_1,\cdots,y_n)\). Let \(M\) be a finitely generated \(S-\)module. The paper under review is concerning several results about \(M\) being relatively Cohen-Macaulay with respect to \(Q\), that is when grade\((Q,M)=\text{cd}(Q,M)\) where ``cd'' stands for the cohomological dimension. Relatively Cohen-Macaulay was already introduced by \textit{A. Rahimi} in [J. Algebra 323, No. 6, 1745--1757 (2010; Zbl 1184.13053)]. As well, \(M\) is called relatively unmixed with respect to \(Q\) if \(\text{cd}(Q,M)=\text{cd}(Q,S/\mathfrak{p})\) for all \(\mathfrak{p}\in \text{Ass}(M)\). It is shown in Corollary 1.11 that relatively Cohen-Macaulay implies relatively unmixed. Although the converse of this fact does not hold, in general, the authors studied several special cases; for example when cd\((Q,M)=1\) or when every quotient of \(M\) is relatively Cohen-Macaulay they show that the converse holds. They also consider an interesting question if being relatively Cohen-Macaulay with respect to \(Q\) and relatively unmixed with respect to \(P\) imply \(M\) to be unmixed?-- Question 1.16. They answer this question in special cases in Propositions 1.18-1.23. In the second section the asymptotic behavior of dimension and depth of the graded pieces of the top local cohomologies of \(M\) with respect to \(Q\) in the case where \(M\) is relatively (generalized) Cohen-Macaulay is studied and exact formulas are provided. Finally the paper considers the simplicial complexes and Stanley-Reisner rings. A combinatorial characterization for relatively Cohen-Macaulay Stanley-Reisner rings is provided in Theorem 4.7.
