The problem of a linear elastic (isotropic) curvilinear layer of finite or infinite length surrounded by an elastic (isotropic) medium of different elastic properties is known mainly from studies on folding in structural geology. Here the authors study a particular case of this problem assuming that the layer is of infinite length and of cosine curve form, and that the behaviour of both the layer (inclusion) and surrounding medium (matrix) is not linearly elastic -- the assumption of geometrical and physical nonlinearity. The considered elastic system is under uniform tension at infinity, which direction is parallel to the fold axis. There are utilized two boundary conditions between the layer and the medium -- displacement and stress continuity conditions. Tensor notation is applied in the derivation procedure, and numerical calculations are performed for specific data. The paper is heavy dependent on the references, and it is difficult to follow in detail the assumed nonlinear data.
