This is a comprehensive paper on exponential decay and the Markus-Yamabe conjecture in infinite dimensions with applications to the Cima system including some numerical examples and figures. In this paper, the authors recall, revise and study a classical result of Lyascenko [\textit{W. A. Coppel}, Stability and asymptotic behavior of differential equations. Boston: D. C. Heath and Company (1965; Zbl 0154.09301)] and [\textit{W. A. Coppel}, Dichotomies in stability theory. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag (1978; Zbl 0376.34001)] for nonautonomous linear systems with a Lipschitz condition in finite dimensions and extend this result to a class of equations with a Hölder condition in infinite dimensions. They also recall, revise and study the classical Markus-Yamabe Conjecture [\textit{L. Markus} and \textit{H. Yamabe}, Osaka Math. J. 12, 305--317 (1960; Zbl 0096.28802)]. They prove a result related to that conjecture in infinite dimensions, and present sufficient conditions for the conjecture to hold true. In this paper, the authors study the long time behavior of some solutions of nonlinear systems using spectral theory, however they need to assume strong additional conditions on the nonlinear part. In principle, they do not intend to establish conditions on the nonlinear part to obtain global asymptotic stability of an equilibrium. Instead they want to obtain sufficient conditions for a specific solution to tend to an equilibrium. However, they establish conditions, for a class of differential equations in infinite dimensions, for the origin to be globally asymptotically stable.
