The persistence of Reeb chords between a Legendrian submanifold $\Lambda$ of a contact manifold and its image under a contact isotopy is studied. The Chekanov-Eliashberg algebra $\mathcal{A}(\Lambda)$ of such submanifold is considered. The following two theorems are the most important results of the paper: Theorem 1. Let $\Lambda_{\mathrm{stab}}\subset\mathbb{R}^{2n+1}$ be a stabilized Legendrian, and suppose for $\Lambda'\subset\mathbb{R}^{2n+1}$ that the algebra $\mathcal{A}(\Lambda')$ admits an augmentation. Then $\Lambda'$ cannot be squeezed into a standard contact neighborhood of $\Lambda_{\mathrm{stab}}$. Theorem 2. Consider the 2-sphere $\Lambda_{\mathrm{st}}(1)\subset\mathbb{R}^5$. Fix any $\delta$ such that $0<\delta\ll 1$. After making the sphere loose by adding a stabilization contained inside a sufficiently small neighborhood of an arbitrary point in $\Lambda_{\mathrm{st}}(1)$, it is displaceable by a contact Hamiltonian of oscillation less than $\delta$.
