Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be non-empty sets. Let \(I\) be a finite set. Assume that for \(i\in I\), a subset \(X_i \subset X\), and two maps \(f_i:X_i \to X\) and \(g_i:X_i \times Y\to Y\) are given. The author investigates the system of simultaneous functional equations \[ \phi(f_i(x))=g_i(x,\phi(x)),\quad x\in X_i,\quad i\in I, \] in the unknown function \(\phi\). The functional equation above is a generalization of de Rham's functional equation. Let \(I =\{0, 1,\dots,N-1\}\), \(N>1\) and let \((Y,d_Y)\) be a complete metric space. Assume that for each \(i\in I\) a map \(g_i:X_i \times Y \to Y\) is given. Under a long set of assumptions on maps \(f_i\) and \(g_i\), both existence and uniqueness of a bounded solution \(\phi\) of the above system are proved. Assuming that \((X,d_X)\) and \((Y,d_Y)\) are compact metric spaces and requiring a long set of conditions, results of regularity of the solutions of the system are given. A series of interesting examples is then produced and the last results of the paper are about stability of the solutions.
