Let \(0 \le k \le n\) be integers. The shifted double staircase shape \(\lambda:=(n,n-1,\ldots,1)+(k,k-1,\ldots,1)\) is a collection of axis-parallel unit squares in \(n\) rows such that, when counted from above, the start of every row is shifted by one unit to the right compared with the previous row and such that the number of squares in the topmost row is \(n+k\), in the second row is \((n-1)+(k-1)\) etc. A shifted plane partition of \(\lambda\) is then a filling of the squares of \(\lambda\) by non-negative integers monotonically non-increasing in every row and in every down column. The authors give a product formula for the number of all such partitions of \(\lambda\) whose entries are at most \(m\). Shifted plane partitions correspond to lozenge tilings of related regions of the plane.
