This paper constructs \(p\)-adic Asai \(L\)-functions for cohomological cuspidal automorphic representations of \(\mathrm{GL}_2\) over CM fields. If the base field is imaginary quadratic, Loeffler-Williams recently constructed such \(p\)-adic Asai \(L\)-functions. This paper generalizes their construction to the case where the base field is a general CM field. In the context of modular forms these functions were introduced by Asai. In the context of automorphic representations -- used in the present paper -- by the reviewer [Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 116, No. 3, 295--313 (1988; Zbl 0674.10026)], under the name ``twisted tensor \(L\)-functions''. The work under review concerns a construction of a \(p\)-adic analogue, attached to irreducible cohomological cuspidal automorphic representations \(\pi\) of \(\mathrm{GL}_2\) over CM fields. The case of imaginary quadratic base field has recently been dealt with by \textit{D. Loeffler} and \textit{C. Williams} [Algebra Number Theory 14, No. 7, 1669--1710 (2020; Zbl 1469.11137)]. The method of their construction relies on the theory of Siegel units on modular curves. Its analogue for Hilbert modular settings is not yet known. In the paper under review a generalization of Eisenstein series associated with Siegel units is used instead.
