The authors study the attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system \[ \begin{cases} u_t = \nabla \cdot (\varphi(u) \nabla u) - \chi \nabla \cdot(u \nabla v) + \xi \nabla \cdot (u \nabla w) + \lambda u (1-u^\alpha) , & (x,t) \in \Omega \times (0,\infty),\\ 0 = \Delta v - m_1(t) + f_1(u), & (x,t) \in \Omega \times (0,\infty), \\ 0 = \Delta w - m_2(t) + f_2(u), & (x,t) \in \Omega \times (0,\infty), \end{cases} \] endowed with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions and nonnegative, radially symmetric and radially nonincreasing initial data \(u_0 \in C^{\theta}(\overline{\Omega})\), with some \(\theta \in (0,1)\), satisfying the Neumann boundary condition. Moreover, it is assumed that \(\Omega = B_R(0) \subset \mathbb{R}^n\) with \(R>0\) and \(n \ge 2\), that \(\chi, \xi, \lambda\), \(\alpha\) are positive, \(\varphi \in C^2([0,\infty))\) with \(\varphi >0\) and that \(f_1, f_2 \in C^1((0,\infty)) \cap C^\theta_{\mathrm{loc}} ([0,\infty))\) for some \(\theta \in (0,1)\) are nonnegative. Furthermore, \(m_i(t) = \frac{1}{|\Omega|} \int_\Omega f_i(u(\cdot,t))\), \(i=1,2\), and it is assumed that \[ f_1(u) \ge k_1 (u+1)^{\gamma_1}, \quad f_2(u) \le k_2 (u+1)^{\gamma_2}, \quad \varphi(u) \le C_0(u+1)^{-m} \quad \text{for all } u \ge 0 \] with some \(C_0, k_i, \gamma_i >0\) and \(m \in \mathbb{R}\). The authors prove that if \(\gamma_1 > \max \{ \alpha, \gamma_2\}\) and \(\min\{ \gamma_1, \gamma_1 + m\} > \frac{2}{n} (\alpha +1)\), then there exist initial data \(u_0\) such that the classical solution \((u,v,w)\) to the above system blows up in finite time. The proof mainly relies on the transformation of the above system to a system of two PDEs on the one-dimensional spatial interval \((0,R)\) (similar to the Jäger-Luckhaus transformation) and the analysis of a generalized moment-like functional.
