The continuous version of the nonlinear Hirota oscillator equation is considered. The fundamentals of the Jacobi Last Multiplier method and its connection with Lagrangians of one-dimensional systems are shortly outlined. Using this method, the authors show that the Hirota oscillator equation may be written in the Lagrange form. As the Jacobi last multiplier may be chosen in two different ways the corresponding two types of Lagrangian are derived. It is shown also that for the Hirota oscillator equation there exists a mirror equation and both these equations are examples of isochronous systems. The Hirota oscillator equation and its mirror equation are shown to emerge from the requirement of isochronicity of their motion. Application of the Jacobi Last Multiplier method for computing the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for a pair of generalized Hirota equations is demonstrated. Unfortunately, there are some typos in formulas.
