The paper under review explores the properties of elliptic curves that arise from Diophantine quadruples. A Diophantine quadruple is a set of four rational numbers such that the product of any two of them is one less than a square. A standard construction associates an elliptic curve to any such quadruple. In particular, the paper constructs infinitely many such elliptic curves that have prescribed torsion groups of \(\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}\times\mathbb{Z}/k\mathbb{Z}\) for \(k=2,4,6,8\). These are all possible torsion groups for elliptic curves over \(\mathbb{Q}\) with full \(2\)-torsion. In addition, some of the curves constructed have Mordell-Weil rank as high as \(10\). The main technique used in the constructions is to find particular rational points on the elliptic curves constructed, and find Diophantine quadruples that make those points have some particular finite order. The curves of high rank are found by computer search of the families constructed, together with standard techniques for computing the Mordell-Weil rank.
