    The authors give generalizations of results connected with the Drygas functional equation \[f(x+y)+f(x-y)=2f(x)+f(y)+f(-y).\] In particular they prove the following result.\par Theorem. Let \(X\) be a normed and \(E\) be an inner product space. Assume that the even part \(f_e\) of \(f\) satisfies \(f_e(2x)=4f_e(x)\) for all \(x\in X\) and that for some \(d>0\) \[\Vert 2f(x)+f(y)+f(-y)-f(x-y)\Vert\leq\Vert f(x+y)\Vert\; \text{for all } x,y\in X \text{ with } \vert x\Vert+\Vert y\Vert\geq d.\] Then \(f\) satisfies the Drygas functional equation.\par Among others they also prove, that given a normed group \(G\) and an odd function \(f\colon G\to E\), \(E\) as above, the condition \[\Vert f(x)+f(y)\Vert \leq \vert f(x+y)\Vert, x,y\in G, \vert x\Vert+\Vert y\Vert\geq d \] implies that \(f\) is a homomorphism of groups: \(f(x+y)=f(x)+f(x)\) for all \(x,y\in G\).
