The paper under review provides additional structure on the co-Bökstedt spectral sequence, the structure of a \(\square_D\)-Hopf algebra where \(D\) is a co-algebra. This algebraic structure is new and likely of independent interest. Using this structure, the authors compute the homology of certain free loop spaces. For example, they extend work of [\textit{K. Kuribayashi} and \textit{T. Yamaguchi}, Fundam. Math. 154, No. 1, 57--73 (1997; Zbl 0883.55006)] and recover previously known computations of the homology of the free loop space of odd dimensional spheres as well as \(SU(n)\), \(Sp(n)\) \(G_2\), \(F_4\), \(E_6\), \(E_7\), and \(E_8\). This gives further evidence that topological coHochshcild homology is a useful tool for computing information about free loop spaces, which in turn has applications to geometric topology. Along the way, the authors also give a new presentation of topological co-Hochschild homology, which naturally extends to analogues of higher topological co-Hochschild homology of co-commutative co-algebra spectra. In the reviewers opinion, this theory is of independent interest and deserves further investigation.
