The paper is devoted to the equation \[-\Delta u+|u|^{p-1}u-M|\nabla u|^q=0,\leqno(1)\] in a bounded domain \(\Omega\) of \(\mathbb{R}^N\) or in the half-space \(\mathbb{R}_+^N\), where \(M>0\), \(p>q\) and \(q\in (1,2)\). The authors study the existence of various types of positive solutions of \((1)\) and their properties, with a particular interest in the analysis of boundary singularities of the solutions. They concentrate on the solutions of equation \((1)\) which vanish on the boundary except one point. Conditions for the removability of compact boundary sets, and the Dirichlet problem associated to \((1)\) with a measure as boundary data are also investigated.
