The discriminant is an invariant that has been widely used in the literature despite being difficult to compute. In the paper under review, the author shines some light on the discriminant of a certain type of algebras over a central subalgebra. Let \(H\) be a finite-dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra and let \(A\) be a Noetherian connected graded Artin-Schelter regular domain. Moreover, suppose that \(H\) acts homogeneously and inner faithfully on \(A\), such that \(A\) is a left \(H\)-module algebra. If the fixed subring \(A^H\) is again Artin-Schelter regular, then we say that \(H\) is a reflection Hopf algebra (or more precisely the triple that consists of \(H, A\) and the action is a reflection Hopf algebra). \textit{E. Kirkman} and \textit{J. J. Zhang} [Int. Math. Res. Not. 2021, No. 13, 9853--9907 (2021; Zbl 1498.16012)] introduced nonzommutative notions of Jacobian and discriminant. In the paper under review, the author finds a connection between the discriminant and Jacobian of a Hopf action under the assumption that the fixed ring \(A^H\) is central in \(A\).
