The authors study a system of stationary first-order mean field games of so-called ``contact'' type (System (1.5) in the paper). Roughly speaking, the ``contact'' arises from the fact that the Hamiltonian has a general dependence on the value function as well (contrary to Hamiltonians depending solely on the position and momentum). An important example in this context is the so-called discounted Hamiltonians. The main ingredient in the analysis of this system is a contact Hamiltonian system (System (1.6) in the paper). Such systems received some attention recently in the context of the Aubry-Mather theory (see [\textit{K. Wang} et al., Commun. Math. Phys. 366, No. 3, 981--1023 (2019; Zbl 1429.37034)]). In their analysis, the authors rely on elements from weak KAM theory. The main results of the paper can be found in Theorem 1, which establishes the existence of a solution to the contact mean field game system, under suitable assumptions on the data. Some dynamical properties of these solutions are also established, and in particular a characterization via Mather measures is also given.
