The paper develops the theory of quandle rings, defined in analogy to group rings. The focus is on zero-divisors and idempotents in quandle rings. The main results state that under certain conditions, there are no zero-divisors. The discussed assumptions include orderability of the quandle and a weaking of the Latin property. For several concrete quandle rings \(R\), there is an explicit calculation of the idempotents in \(R\), and subsequently of the maximal quandles in \(R\), and automorphism groups of \(R\). The paper ends with a few remarks on the commutator width in quandle algebras.
