The equality cases in Steiner's projection inequality (Q2165647)

Let \(C^n\) be the family of all compact sets in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with finite perimeter and non-empty interior. For a certain subclass of indecomposable sets \(E \in C^n\), the authors obtain necessary and sufficient conditions of the equality case in the Steiner projection inequality. As an application of this result, they give a new proof of the equality case of the Petty projection inequality. The latter states that among all convex bodies of given volume, the ones whose polar projection bodies have maximal volume are precisely the ellipsoids.
