\textit{S. Kolyada} et al. [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 35, No. 7, 2151--2170 (2015; Zbl 1352.37115)] studied topological properties of spaces of maps defined in terms of the dynamics of the maps. Here the authors consider subspaces of interval maps defined through the topological entropies of the maps. Let \(C([0,1])\) denote the set of continuous maps on \([0,1]\) with the supremum metric and let \(h(f)\) denote the topological entropy of \(f \in C([0,1])\). One of the authors' main results is that for every \(a \in [0,\infty)\), the function spaces \(E_{\ge a}=\{f \in C([0,1]): h{(f)} \ge a \}\) and \(E_{> a}=\{f \in C([0,1]): h{(f)} > a \}\) are homeomorphic to the Hilbert space \(l_2\). Furthermore, the corresponding function spaces \(E_{\le a}\) and \(E_{< a}\) are contractible and their subspaces consisting of all piecewise monotone maps are homotopy dense in \(E_{\le a}\) and \(E_{< a}\), respectively.
