The authors parametrize characters of normalizers of \(d\)-split Levi subgroups of \(\mathrm{SL}_{n}(q)\) and \(\mathrm{SU}_{n}(q)\). The inductive Alperin McKay conjecture is verified for \(\ell\)-blocks of these groups for primes \(\ell\) which do not divides \(6(q^{2}-1)\), and Alperin's weight conjecture is verified for such blocks with abelian defect group. The inductive Alperin-McKay conjecture is an essential tool in proving the Alperin-McKay conjecture in general in cases when Clifford-theoretic reductions allow consideration of groups which are close to simple.
