The author defines a differential algebra structure on the unitary dual \(\widehat{G}\) of a compact Lie group \(G\). The analytic utility of this construction is demonstrated in proofs of multiplier theorems of Hörmander, Mihlin and Marcinkiewicz types. It is shown that these results or their implications variously extend, sharpen or recover existing results in the literature. More specifically, the Hörmander-type multiplier theorem is sharp in the Sobolev exponent and moreover implies ``the Hörmander theorem for spectral multipliers of a Laplace-Beltrami [operator] \(\mathcal{L}\) on \(G\) \dots\ [which is] a particular case of the celebrated result of Seeger and Sogge'' [\textit{A.~Seeger} and \textit{C.~D. Sogge}, Duke Math. J. 59, No.~3, 709--736 (1989; Zbl 0698.35169)]. The Mihlin-type theorem is sharper than the main result of Ruzhansky and Wirth [\textit{M.~Ruzhansky} and \textit{J.~Wirth}, Math. Z. 280, No.~3--4, 621--642 (2015; Zbl 1331.43002)]. Furthermore, while the latter result does not specialise in the case \(G = \mathbb{T}\) to the original multiplier theorem of Marcinkiewicz [\textit{J.~Marcinkiewicz} Stud. Math. 8, 78--91 (1939; Zbl 0020.35403)], the Marcinkiewicz-type theorem obtained in the paper does in fact have this property.
