As the main result, the authors give asymptotic formulae for the volume of the unit balls \(B_{p,q}^{n}\) of \(n\)-dimensional Lorentz spaces \(\ell_{p,q}^{n}\). They show \[ \left(\operatorname{vol}_{n}(B_{p,q}^{n})\right)^{\frac{1}{n}}\sim n^{-\frac{1}{p}}. \] This estimate has been essentially known: In [\textit{C. Schuett}, Compos. Math. 47, 393--407 (1982; Zbl 0477.46023)], this estimate was proved in the case that \(B_{p,q}^{n}\) is convex, which leaves the nonconvex cases \(p,q<1\). Even in this case, in [loc.\,cit.]\ a lower estimate was provided. Moreover, the estimate in [loc.\,cit.]\ is more general: Let \(X\) be an \(n\)-dimensional Banach space with a symmetric, normalized basis \(e_{1},\dots,e_{n}\) and let \(B_{X}\) be its unit ball. Then it was shown in [loc.\,cit.]\ that \[ \left(\operatorname{vol}_{n}(B_{X})\right)^{\frac{1}{n}}\sim \left\|\sum_{i=1}^{n}e_{i}\right\|_{X}^{-1}. \] The proofs are simpler in [loc.\,cit.]. The authors prove a formula for the entropy numbers of the identity mapping from \(\ell_{p,\infty}^{n}\) to \(\ell_{p}^{n}\). In fact, the same formula was proved in [\textit{C. Schuett}, J. Approx. Theory 40, 121--128 (1984; Zbl 0497.41017)] for the identity from \(\ell_{p}^{n}\) to \(\ell_{r}^{n}\).
