Let \(Q\) be an algebraic group over an algebraically closed field \(k\) of characteristic \(0\). Let \(q\) be it's Lie algebra. There exist examples of non-reductive \(Q\)'s such that the invariant algebra \(k[q^*]^Q\) is polynomial. In the paper under review new such examples are found. It is proved that under mild restrictions on \(q\) the passage from \(a\) to the \(m\)-th Takiff algebra \(q< m > =q\otimes k[T]/(T^{m+1})\) preserves the polynomiality of symmetric invariants.
