The equation \[ \Delta u-u+|u|^{p-1}u=0\qquad\text{in }\mathbb{R}^2 \] has a radial solution \(u_p\) that changes sign precisely once, constructed in [the reviewer and \textit{M. Willem}, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 124, No. 3, 261--276 (1993; Zbl 0790.35020)]. The paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of this solution as \(p\to\infty\). In particular, the \(L^\infty\)-norms and the limit profiles of \(u_p^+\) and \(u_p^-\) are studied.
