Let \(\Omega\subset \mathbb R^d\) be open and bounded. Set \(\partial_{\text{reg}}\Omega=\{z\in\partial\Omega: \Omega^c\text{ is not thin at }z\}\). Let \(X\) be a real Banach space. Given \(f\in C(\partial \Omega,X)\), the Dirichlet problem (P) \[ u\in \mathcal H(\Omega,X)\cap C(\bar{\Omega},X),\quad u|_{\partial\Omega}=f \] is considered. Here \(\mathcal H(\Omega,X)=\{u\in C^2(\Omega,X),\Delta u=0\}\) and the set of all bounded harmonic functions will be denoted by \(\mathcal H_b(\Omega,X)\). It is proved (Theorem 1.1) that there exists a unique function \(H_f\), called the Perron solution, which satisfies \[ H_f\in\mathcal H_b(\Omega,X),\quad \lim_{\xi\to z}H_f(\xi)= f(z) \text{ for all }z\in\partial_{\text{reg}}\Omega. \] Next, methods of construction of the above Perron solution, in particular Wiener's and Poincaré's constructions, are presented. The particular case where \(X\) is a Banach lattice is investigated. Applications to the Poisson problem for elliptic operators and to the heat equation on irregular domains are studied.
