A Jacobi matrix on a graph is an operator on the vector space of square summable sequences indexed by the vertices of the graph. In this paper, a periodic Jacobi matrix on a connected finite graph is formally defined in terms of a Jacobi matrix on the universal cover corresponding to the graph. Then the newly defined concept is used to revisit Sunada's gab labeling theorem and Aomoto's result on no point spectrum in the case of regular trees. Furthermore, it is shown that periodic Jacobi matrices on tress have no singular continuous spectrum. This paper also includes numerous open problems and conjectures for the future work in the study of periodic Jacobi matrices.
