      The author, first, generalizes the Nakayama functor into categories, lists properties, gives several examples, characterizes it in terms of monads and comonads (Theorem 3.3.3); and determine necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a Nakayama functor (Theorem 3.3.5). It also provides a tool (Corollary 3.3.2) to calculate the Nakayama functor and its adjoint. Second, he introduced the Iwanaga-Gorenstein algebras in the context of Nakayama functors relative to endofunctors, and generalized some Chen results. Using the resolving and coresolving dimensions, \( P \) is Iwanaga-Gorenstein (Theorem 4.2.6) if, and only if, those dimensions are finite; and if that is so, they match. Finally, restricted to abelian categories, prove the existence of an adjoint pair with the Nakayama functor the evaluation (Theorem 5.3.3).
