Let \(\mu\) be an infinitely supported probability measure on the unit circle \(\partial\mathbb{D}\) and let \(\{\beta_n\}_{n=0}^{\infty}\) be a sequence of numbers satisfying \(|\beta_n|=1.\) Denote by \(\{\varphi_n\}_{n=0}^{\infty}\) and \(H_n^{(\beta_{n-1})}(z)=z\varphi_{n-1}(z)-\overline{\beta_{n-1}}\varphi^*_{n-1}(z)\) the orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle (OPUC) and the corresponding paraorthogonal polynomials (POPUC) [\textit{B. Simon} , Orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle. Part 1: Classical theory. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2005; Zbl 1082.42020)]. The zeros of \(H_n^{(\beta_{n-1})}\) are labelled for fixed \(e^{i\Theta}\in\partial\mathbb{D}\) in the following way: \[ \cdots<\theta_{-1}^{(n)}(\Theta)<\Theta\leq\theta_0^{(n)}(\Theta)<\cdots. \] The first main result (Theorem 1.1) contains two assertions: \begin{itemize} \item[i)] If \(\mu_{ac}\) is the component of \(\mu\) that is absolutely continuous w.r.t. Lebesgue measure on \(\partial\mathbb{D},\) then for \(\mu_{ac}\)-almost every \(z=e^{i\Theta}\) we have \[ \limsup_{n\to\infty} n(\theta_0^{(n)}(\Theta)-\theta_{-1}^{(n)}(\Theta))>0. \] \item[ii)] Fix \(\gamma>1,\) and let \[ A=\left\{e^{i\Theta}\in\partial\mathbb{D}\left|\liminf_{n\to\infty}n^{\gamma}\left(\theta_0^{(n)}(\Theta)-\theta_{-1}^{(n)}(\Theta)\right)\right.<\infty\right\}. \] Then the restricted measure \(\mu(A\cap\cdot)\) is supported on a set of Hausdorff dimension at most \(\frac{2}{1+\gamma}.\) \end{itemize} The second main result (Theorem 1.2) presents an analogue for POPUC of an example from \textit{J. Breuer}[ J. Approxim. Theory 163, 1478--1491 (2011; Zbl 1228.42028)], where a family of singular measures with clock behavior of zeros of orthogonal polynomials on the real line was constructed.
