The study is focused on analysis and synthesis of adaptive fuzzy output feedback control for multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) switched nonlinear systems with backlash-like hysteresis. The discussed MIMO switched nonlinear systems are composed of a collection of interconnected subsystems. The hysteresis nonlinearities are described by a set of differential equations instead of a hysteresis inverse operator. The formulated control objective is to develop an adaptive output feedback control scheme, such that for any bounded initial conditions, all the signals present in the resulting system are bounded under constrained switching and the output tracks the reference signal as much as possible. A MIMO switched fuzzy observer (composed of a collection of if-then rules) is designed to estimate the system states, which makes the approach less conservative than using a common observer for all subsystems. The stability analysis of the system is completed as well. Two numeric examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control scheme and quantify the performance of the obtained tracking performance.
