After a short introduction on convexity theorems and classification theorems for toric integrable systems on symplectic manifolds (see [\textit{T. Delzant}, Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 116, No. 3, 315--339 (1988; Zbl 0676.58029)]), the paper reviews previous results by the author on the more general case of semitoric integrable system on symplectic \(4\)-folds. Roughly speaking, a semitoric system on a symplectic manifold \((M, \omega)\) of dimension \(2n\) is an integrable system, i.e., a vector valued (momentum) map \(F = (f_1, \ldots, f_n) : M \to \mathbb R^n\) whose components are functionally independent and in involution, such that the first \(n-1\) Hamiltonian vector fields \(X_{f_1}, \ldots, X_{f_{n-1}}\) generate periodic flows with the same period (and the associated torus action is effective). One also requires additional topological conditions (like \(M\) being compact and connected) and certain conditions on the singularities of \(F\) being not too exotic. For this kind of systems, the author and his collaborators provided in previous works a full set of symplectic invariants, hence a classification up to isomorphisms, in dimension \(4\). The paper quickly describes these invariants. The last part of the paper is devoted to applications to quantum (semi)toric systems in spectral geometry and to the inverse problem in this setting, consisting in reconstructing the classical limit of a quantum (semi)toric system from its joint spectrum. This is indeed possible, as for example for quantum toric integrable systems defined by Berezin-Toeplitz operators on compact manifolds. As a consequence, all toric integrable systems on a compact and connected manifold can be quantized. The paper is a short report on these lines of research by the author and his collaborators. All technical details are skipped.
