Consider the BGG category \(\mathcal{O}\) of a finite-dimensional semisimple Lie algebra. The aim of this paper is to construct and study BGG complexes in singular blocks \(\mathcal{O}_\lambda\) of \(\mathcal{O}\). These are constructed by applying the translation functor \(T_0^\lambda\) to BGG complexes in the regular block \(\mathcal{O}_0\), and then making further simplifications governed by the Bruhat order. After these simplifications are made, the authors are able to prove an exactness criterion for singular BGG complexes, following the approach of [\textit{B. D. Boe} and \textit{M. Hunziker}, Commun. Algebra 37, No. 1, 323--356 (2009; Zbl 1243.17003)]. This is stated in terms of singular Kazhdan-Lusztig-Vogan polynomials. Numerous examples are provided. Finally, the results obtained for singular blocks are applied to produce analogues of BGG resolutions in \(\mathcal{S}\)-subcategories of \(\mathcal{O}\), leading to an extension of the main result of \textit{V. Futorny} and \textit{V. Mazorchuk} [J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 38, No. 2, 229--240 (1998; Zbl 0926.17006)].
