The authors obtain a localization of the Kobayashi metric in a new class of domains in \(\mathbb C^n\). This is the class of so-called log-type convex domains, i.e., domains \(\Omega\subset\mathbb C^n\), \(n\geq 2\), satisfying \[ \delta_{\Omega}(z;v)\leq\frac{C}{|\log\delta_{\Omega}(z)|^{1+\nu}},\quad z\in\Omega,\ v\in\mathbb C^n, \] for some \(\nu>0\), \(C>0\), where \(\delta_{\Omega}(z)\) is the Euclidean distance of the point \(z\) from the boundary of \(\Omega\), and \(\delta_{\Omega}(z;v)\) is the Euclidean distance of the point \(z\) from the boundary of \(\Omega\) in the direction \(v\). As an application, the authors prove a continuous extension result for a roughly isometric embedding between two bounded domains in \(\mathbb C^n\). Finally, using techinques from A. Zimmer's paper they prove that the Teichmüller space \(\mathcal T_{g,n}\) cannot be biholomorphic to a bounded pseudoconvex domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb C^{3g-3+n}\) which is locally log-type convex at some boundary point.
