Let \(H\) be a finite dimensional Hopf algebra over a field \(k\) with the dual Chevalley property, that is, such that its coradical \(H_0\) is a Hopf subalgebra, and let \(\mathcal S\) be the antipode of \(H\). The main result of the paper under review says that the identity \((S^{2N} - \operatorname{id})^{L-1} = 0\) holds on \(H\), where \(N\) is the exponent of \(H_0\) and \(L\) is the Loewy length of \(H\). This generalizes a previous result of \textit{E. J. Taft} and \textit{R. L. Wilson} for pointed Hopf algebras in [J. Algebra 29, 27--32 (1974; Zbl 0282.16008)]. As a consequence the authors show that the quasi-exponent of \(H\) coincides with the exponent of its coradical \(H_0\), and they also show that, when \(k = \mathbb C\) is the field of complex numbers, the quasi-exponent of the semidirect product Hopf algebra \(H \rtimes \mathbb C \langle \mathcal S^2\rangle\) coincides with of that of \(H\).
