Milnor excision for motivic spectra (Q2238199)

The authors prove that the contravariant functor sending a scheme \(S\) to the \(\infty\)-category of motivic spectra over \(S\) satisfies Milnor excision. This is accomplished by reducing Milnor excision to an excision property for valuation rings called v-excision; v-excision in turn is established by embedding the \(\infty\)-category of motivic spectra into the \(\infty\)-category of motivic spectra built using the cdh site. In the final section, the authors also show a version of Milnor excision for Ayoub's étale motives.
