Sharp upper bound for the first eigenvalue (Q2248899)

This article studies a closed hypersurface \(M\) in one of these spaces: A noncompact rank-1 Riemannian symmetric space whose sectional curvature lies in \([-4,-1]\), or a complete simply connected Riemannian manifold whose sectional curvature lies in \([0,\delta^2]\) or \((-\infty, -\delta^2]\) or \((-\infty, 0]\). It gives a sharp upperbound for the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian of \(M\) in terms of \(\delta\).
