In this very interesting paper, the author introduces and studies the main properties of \textit{microlocal compactness forms} (MCFs). This is a new and powerful tool to study oscillations and concentrations of bounded sequences of functions in \(L^p\) spaces. MCF extends at once the theories of generalized Young measures and Tartar's \(H\)-measures (or Gérard's microlocal defect measures), in that MCFs hold control on locality, value distribution, direction of oscillations and concentrations. After developing the theory of MCFs (in the proofs one uses measure theory, Young measures and harmonic analysis), the author considers applications to laminations, relaxation of integral functionals, and propagation of singularities of semilinear hyperbolic systems with a semilinearity given by a Carathéodory function \(g(x,u)\) with linear growth in \(u\).
