Let \(G\) be a finite simple graph and \(I(G)\) be the edge ideal of \(G\). The paper under review is inspired by the question of \textit{E. Nevo} and \textit{I. Peeva} [J. Algebr. Comb. 37, No. 2, 243--248 (2013; Zbl 1274.13028)] which stated that if \(G\) is a graph that does not have any induced four cycle in its complement (equivalently, gap-free graph) and \(\mathrm{reg}(I(G))\leq3\), then \(I(G)^s\) has a linear resolution for all \(s\geq 2\). The main result of this paper shows that this problem is true for every gap-free and cricket free graph \(G\). We note that this result generalizes a result by \textit{E. Nevo} [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 118, No. 2, 491--501 (2011; Zbl 1232.05092)] which shaw that \(I(G)^2\) has a linear resolution, if \(G\) is a gap-free and claw-free.
