Let \(G\) be an affine supergroup scheme over an algebraically closed field \(k\) of characteristic zero. Let \(\operatorname{Rep}(G)\) denote the category of finite-dimensional super representations of \(G\). Unlike the case of an affine reductive group scheme, the category \(\operatorname{Rep}(G)\) need not be semisimple. The author studies a semisimplification of this category: \(\operatorname{Rep}(G,\varepsilon)/{\mathcal N}\). Here, \(\operatorname{Rep}(G,\epsilon)\) is a full subcategory associated to an element \(\varepsilon \in G(k)\) and \({\mathcal N}\) is the tensor ideal of negligible morphisms (which is the largest proper ideal in \(\operatorname{Rep}(G,\varepsilon)\)). This semisimplification is shown to be a super Tannakian category, and, as such, is known to be tensor equivalent to the representation category \(\operatorname{Rep}(G^{red},\varepsilon')\) for some supergroup scheme \(G^{red}\). Given \(G\), one would like to identify the group \(G^{red}\) (the so-called \textit{pro-reductive envelope} of \(G\)). Focusing on the general linear supergroup \(G = \mathrm{GL}(m\mid n)\) (for \(m \geq n\)), the author shows that \(G^{red}\) has wild representation type if \(n \geq 3\). The author then restricts to the case of \(\mathrm{GL}(m\mid 1)\), with the main result of the paper being the identification of \(\mathrm{GL}(m|1)\) with \({\mathbb Z}/2{\mathbb Z} \ltimes (\mathrm{GL}(m-1) \times \mathrm{GL}(1) \times \mathrm{GL}(1))\). Note here that the affine group schemes involved are considered as supergroup schemes with trivial odd part. For \(\mathrm{GL}(m\mid 1)\), the blocks have tame representation type and the indecomposable modules have been classified (as certain ``zigzag-modules'') by \textit{J. Germoni} [J. Algebra 209, No. 2, 367--401 (1998; Zbl 0933.17010)]. One then needs to determine how the tensor products of two indecomposable modules decompose. This is done through the use of a certain tensor functor from \(\operatorname{Rep}(\mathrm{GL}(m\mid 1))\) to \(\operatorname{Rep}(\mathrm{GL}(m-1\mid 0))\). Lastly, the author identifies the pro-reductive envelope for \(\mathrm{SL}(m\mid 1)\).
