The author reproves the Heegner-Baker-Stark theorem following an idea of \textit{D. M. Goldfeld} [Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa, Cl. Sci., IV. Ser. 3, 623--663 (1976; Zbl 0345.12007)]. The procedure is similar to that in another paper of the author [Mathematika 65, No. 2, 333--374 (2019; Zbl 1431.11124)], but using spectral techniques relying on the Duke-Iwaniec bound for Fourier coefficients of half-integral weight Maass forms.
