Cameron-Liebler sets of lines in \(\mathrm{PG}(3,q)\) were introduced in [\textit{P. J. Cameron} and \textit{R. A. Liebler}, Linear Algebra Appl. 46, 91--102 (1982; Zbl 0504.05015)] in connection with the study of collineation groups of \(\mathrm{PG}(n,q)\) having equally many point- and line orbits. The notion is purely combinatorial in nature and it was later generalized to other combinatorial structures. The authors compare several definitions for Cameron-Liebler sets of generators in finite classical polar spaces, with special emphasis on the class of so called degree one Cameron-Liebler sets. They also obtain some classification results for degree one Cameron-Liebler sets of generators in \(\mathrm{W}(5,q)\) and \(\mathrm{Q}(6,q)\).
