For a continuum \(X\) a general problem is the following one: Find conditions on \(X\) under which the following implication holds: If \(C_{n}(X)\) is a cone, then \(X\) is a cone, where \(C_{n}(X)\) denotes the hyperspace of all nonempty closed subsets with at most \(n\) components. In this way, in the paper under review, the authors show the following two theorems as main results: Theorem. Let \(X\) be a fan. Then the following are equivalent: (a) \(X\) is a cone. (b) \(C_n(X)\) is a cone for every \(n\geq 1\). (c) \(C_n(X)\) is a cone for some \(n\neq 2\). Theorem. Let \(X\) be an almost meshed continuum different from a simple closed curve. Then the following are equivalent: (a) \(X\) is a cone. (b) \(C_n(X)\) is a cone for every \(n\geq 1\). (c) \(C_n(X)\) is a cone for some \(n\geq 1\).
