    Let \(R\) be a commutative ring. The authors continue the research of classification problem of tilting modules by using the Zariski spectrum. The main result of this paper is a classification of tilting \(R\)-modules using filtration of Thomason subsets of \(\mathrm{Spec} \,R\). This result extends previous work for noetherian rings [\textit{L. A. Hügel} et al., Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 366, No. 7, 3487--3517 (2014; Zbl 1291.13018)]. The proof of this result is obtained using methods which are different from the noetherian case (e.g. Koszul homology, local (co)homology, Čech homology, and derived categories). An alternative classification using classes of modules vanishing the local (co)homology, the derived completion functors or Čech homoly is given. Moreover, a cotilting module inducing a cotilting class of cofinite type over a commutative ring is constructed. This construction generalices the one given in the noetherian case in [\textit{J. Šťovíček} et al., J. Pure Appl. Algebra 218, No. 9, 1696--1711 (2014; Zbl 1297.13013)]. In the last section, several interesting examples of cotilting classes which are not of cofinite type are given.
