The author extends a recent result on tau-functions for the KdV hierarchy to the Toda lattice hierarchy. For the solution to the Toda lattice hierarchy, he uses a pair of wave functions to give explicit formulae for the generating series of multi-point correlation functions. The found results have applications for computing GUE correlators and Gromov-Witten invariants of the Riemann sphere.
